Why use PDF99 to split PDFs?
Visual page thumbnails
Every page of your PDF is rendered as a real preview thumbnail — you can see exactly what you're extracting before you download.
Click or type to select
Click individual page thumbnails to toggle selection, or type a range like 1-3, 5, 8-10 in the input box. The two methods stay in sync.
ZIP or single PDF output
Download selected pages as individual PDF files in a ZIP, or merge your selection into a single PDF — your choice.
No quality loss
Pages are copied from the source file directly — no re-encoding, no quality change whatsoever.
No page limits
Split PDFs with any number of pages, any file size.
Private, browser-based
PDF-lib and PDF.js handle everything locally. Your document stays on your device.
What does splitting a PDF actually do?
Splitting extracts pages from a PDF into separate files. The source document is not modified — splitting creates a new file containing only the pages you selected. Common uses include: sharing a few pages from a confidential report, separating a multi-invoice scan into individual invoice files, extracting a single chapter from a long document, or removing unwanted pages from a scanned document.
PDF99's split tool goes further than most by rendering each page as a visible thumbnail, so you can confirm you're selecting the right pages before extracting.
